opey dope

a few weeks ago, greg had picked harley up from day care, and when i got home he said, “she’s been singing something that ends with OPEY DOPE.  do you know what that is?”

she heard him say this and thought ‘opey dope’ was just about the funniest thing she’d ever heard.  she went around saying ‘opey dope’ and giggling like crazy.

finally a few days later she started singing ‘i’ve been working on the railroad,’ which ends with the lyric,

strumming on the old banjo

we were both standing there, and as soon as she sung it, greg shouted, “that was it! that was the song she was singing. what did she just sing?”

old banjo, greg. not opey dope. old banjo.

but opey dope is way funnier.  we still say it just to get a giggle out of her.
