the doctor: finally decided to get my ass in gear and find myself (actually, both of us) a family doctor. but really was there this time b/c i’ve had what i thought was an on-and-off cold for about a month. although apparently it’s not a cold, it’s simply raging seasonal allergies, which i’ve never had before. (i think harley is to be thanked for this new development.)...
the day that got away from me
it would almost be an understatement to say that i got nothing done today.
i mean i really, really did not have a productive day.
i’d say let’s try again tomorrow, but i won’t be coming into the office tomorrow.
so i think it’s (almost) time to just call it a day, and try again wednesday.
scenes-from-my-hood:
this is how you blog (with dignity) about your messy divorce.
how can writing about something so ugly be so… lovely?
check it out. the direct link to her blog is here.
how timely.
as a result of this post, and the gawker article, i decided to start following justine musk’s blog. i was intrigued by her writing and wanted to read on…
today she...

I believe that the BP oil spill could have even bigger ramifications on our country than we already realize.
If this disaster exits the public consciousess without there being a 1:1 ratio of fault to accountability, then we as a nation will have demonstrated to our government (and the…

taking care
let’s call tomorrow TAKING BACK MY BODY DAY!
ok, that sounds a touch dramatic.
but i do have plans tomorrow to see the following: a family doctor, a dentist, and then an eye surgeon for a lasik consultation.
this story begins on saturday morning, when i woke up with extreme jaw pain, unlike anything i’d ever felt before. greg and i had had a stressful night friday, so i thought i...
iPad!!!
it’s here! so now it’s time for the big question…
what shall i name it?
(my ipod’s name is wallace.)
go!
can i just be vain for a moment?
elisabeth is a rockin’ photographer. i think she’s super talented, has a great eye, a great style … i could go on and on. i am 99.9% absurdly satisfied with the way the shoot went.
but there’s something bothering me - and it’s even bothering me how much it’s bothering me. i happened to have thrown out, about a week before the shoot, what i didn’t...

well HELLO there, good day at work.
first i get a $50 tiffany’s gift certificate…
AND THEN I GET A BIG FAT BONUS. (it’s not all that big and fat, actually at all. it’s no wall street bonus (i’m sorry, $600k per employee holyshitballs) but i’ll take it.)
betcha can’t guess which one of these things made me happier.
how lovely, indeed.
this is pretty amazing.
i mean, i know she’s my hero, for sure.

“Stop trying so hard to sound deep. Stop using twice the words necessary. Your thoughts have potential, but your writing is muddy and imprecise.
Also, when was the last time you traveled with just a backpack? That detail is jarring like dad’s voice on the answering machine interrupting some…
is it really monday again?
during the week i get so giddy to fill up our weekends with activities and general busy-ness. the workdays can feel so endless, that it becomes necessary to have a full schedule to look forward to.
and yet, every sunday night as another crazy, non-stop weekend winds down, i remind myself that we need to slow down, and all these plans can really become too much.
but then i get into work on...
some boys i kinda love.
benihana STINKS
well, i mean, we totally had fun.
but i now SMELL. i mean, positively reek of hibachi grill.
it also got spontaneously, magically, suddenly beautiful outside. and i’m wearing jeans, boots, and a wrap sweater.
so i’m thinking that the facts that i smell foul and i’m overdressed for the temperature can only mean one thing…
i should totally go shopping and buy myself a...
pretty fucking amped for this weekend.
first of all, it’s been a shit week at work, so the weekend will be an awesome relief.
but it is also jam-packed with good stuff and great people (and fiiinally some nice weather)!
starting with…
tonight, the university glee club concert, featuring my one and only bro.
tomorrow, a crawfish boil at a friend’s house! (although not sure...
OMG!!
Then Obama will head up the FDR to 42nd St. to First Ave. and on to the St. Regis Hotel at Fifth Ave. and 55th St. to headline a congressional fund-raiser at 6p.m. He is scheduled to depart JFK about 8:30 p.m. A stop in Times Square is possible, so I’d avoid that area, too.
right around the corner from my office!!! i wanna see him!!
20 weeks out
tomorrow harley will be TWENTY WEEKS old.
it’s really hard to believe she’s already been outside of my body, outside in the world, for half as long as she was inside. (it’s not so hard to imagine that the next 20 weeks will also fly by, and i’ll soon be repeating an only slightly modified version of that same thought.)
twenty weeks. the last two and a half of them being...

Aly Boo Boo: Go back on your word and donate to... →
I got a text from my friend J about joining a website called stickk.com to lose weight/get in shape.
Have you guys heard of this?
You choose a goal (lose weight, stop smoking, etc) and commit to it. Then you put stakes on committing to it by choosing an anti-charity. If you stick to your word…
i think this might *actually* be motivation that would WORK.
damn bacon!!!
scene: INT judi’s office, a few moments ago
judi is mindlessly (therein lies the problem) munching along on her delightfully vegetarian (or so she thinks) lunch, a thoughtfully (or so it seemed) put together mix of greens, feta cheese, tomatoes, chick peas, cucumber, and sunflower seeds - with a side of the prepared potato salad on offer in the cafeteria today…
she takes a bite of...

partially with a nod to my brother (who read eating animals and kind of got inside my head with his summaries of the philosophies therein)…
and partially just as a new challenge and experiment…
and, honestly, largely with an eye towards the pants that don’t fit and my hopefully fitting into them again soon…

the weekend
kind of a lot, and yet nothing at all…
on saturday greg’s cousin & his fiancee came out for a suburban excursion - they want to visit some different towns they’re considering for when they make the big move out of the city. we explored downtown montclair, had a really yummy lunch, did some window shopping … i think they fell in love with the place.
hours outside in...
